Protesters Get Arrested Amid Anti-ICE Protest at Manhattan Hotel

(MENAFN) Authorities in Manhattan, New York, arrested dozens of demonstrators on Tuesday evening after they staged a sit-in at the lobby of a TriBeCa hotel, which protesters claimed was hosting federal immigration agents linked to the Trump administration’s crackdown on undocumented migrants.

More than 100 protesters gathered inside the Hilton Garden Inn on Sixth Avenue near Canal Street, wearing black T-shirts with anti-ICE slogans and chanting against the agency. Demonstrators also criticized the hotel, alleging it was providing accommodations to ICE personnel.

Hotel staff and visitors appeared confused by the demonstration. Police instructed everyone to leave, but approximately 50 protesters refused and were subsequently detained by officers from the Strategic Response Group. Exact numbers of arrests and charges were not immediately disclosed.

The protest comes after two separate deadly incidents involving ICE agents in Minneapolis earlier this month, where Renee Nicole Macklin Good and Alex Jeffrey Pretti were killed. These deaths have triggered widespread protests, with demonstrators demanding accountability and independent investigations into federal immigration enforcement actions.

Civil rights groups and some politicians have challenged the official claims that the individuals posed a threat to officers, citing available video footage from the scenes. The Manhattan protest reflects ongoing national outrage over federal immigration enforcement and the use of lethal force by ICE agents.
